Management
The managing partners are the sole shareholders of Mummert & Company. All mandates are led by partners with extensive transaction experience, who handle all aspects of a deal in order to personally guarantee the quality of execution and success of a mandate.
The partners, Melville D. Mummert, Harald Maehrle, Ute Lassnig, Dirk Liedtke, Marc Lohrmann and Bjoern Roeper (Ph.D.) have operational experience in industry (e.g. IBM, Infineon, SAP, Bayer) in addition to their extensive corporate finance experience with international investment banks (ABN AMRO, Deutsche Bank, Goldman Sachs, Hypovereinsbank).
As a result, they are familiar with relevant operational and organizational issues that affect a transaction as well as strategic and financial engineering issues. In the past, the partners have executed deals from a wide variety of perspectives; as independent corporate finance advisors, as buyers of equity stakes, as managers in large corporations and as sellers of their own personal stakes in start-up companies.
Melville D. Mummert:

Work Experience: Mr. Mummert has advised companies on mergers & acquisitions, restructurings and privatizations since 1987, including as a founder of a private M&A boutique, as Managing Director of the Matuschka Group and as Managing Director of ABN AMRO Corporate Finance (Germany). Prior to his work in corporate finance, Mr. Mummert worked eight years for IBM Corporation, including management positions in technical sales in the USA. Mr. Mummert has also acted as a member of the Advisory or Supervisory Boards of companies in the USA and Germany.
Education: Mr. Mummert graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Princeton University and received a Master of Business Administration from Harvard University.
Harald Maehrle:

Work Experience: Mr. Maehrle began his career in 1993 with a corporate finance firm based in New York and Frankfurt, with responsibility for its German M&A activities. During this time, his team set up the first German internet service provider, germany.net, which was later sold to RWE. Subsequently, he advised international private equity firms at Bain & Company. As an Assistant to the Managing Board of SAP, he was responsible for strategic partnerships in the New Media business area and M&A. Subsequently, he was Managing Director of smarterwork GmbH, an e-commerce company.
Education: Mr. Maehrle received a degree in Business Administration from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and received a Master of Economics from Wayne State University. He was graduated from Harvard University with a Master of Business Administration.
Ute Lassnig
born 1970

Work Experience: Ms. Lassnig began her career in 1994 with Goldman Sachs in London and Frankfurt advising clients in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on financing and credit related issues. She then joined the Healthcare Investment Banking team of Goldman Sachs in London, where she advised companies in the biotech-, pharma-, medtech- and agrochemical sectors on mergers and acquisitions, divestments as well as financings. After leaving Goldman Sachs in 2002, Ms. Lassnig joined Infineon Technologies AG, where she was responsible for divestments, acquisitions, spin-offs and licensing transactions until 2005.
Education: Ms. Lassnig received a master´s degree in computer science and business administration from the University of Zurich.
Dirk Liedtke

Work Experience: Mr. Liedtke started his career as a consultant in the Roland Berger / DGM Group in 1995 in its Hamburg office and was subsequently responsible for buy- and sell-side mandates in the mid-cap M&A team of Deutsche Bank in Frankfurt. He joined Commerzbank in 1999 and played a leading role as Head of the General Industrials M&A Group in the reorganization of its Frankfurt and London-based M&A teams with a pan-European and North American focus. In 2001, Mr. Liedtke joined the M&A team at Hypovereinsbank in Munich. He was promoted to Managing Director and subsequently in 2005 to Speaker of the Board of the M&A / Corporate Finance unit within the newly formed UniCredit Markets and Investment Banking Germany.
Education: Mr. Liedtke received a degree in business administration from the University of Nuremberg-Erlangen.
Marc Lohrmann

Work Experience: Mr. Lohrmann started his career in 1999 with Andersen Consulting in Munich. He then co-founded two life science companies and was, as Chief Business Officer, instrumental in raising over € 20 mio in equity and debt. He closed cooperation contracts with GSK, Eli Lilly, Bayer Crop Science, Medarex, Pfizer and Schering-Plough. In 2003, he joined Bayer Innovation as an investment manager responsible for acquiring medical device companies and developing proprietary medical devices and also vaccines. In parallel, he co-founded two medical device companies located in the US. In 2007, he became Partner of a Munich-based corporate finance advisory company responsible for life science industry.
Education: Mr. Lohrmann received a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Stuttgart-Hohenheim in 1999.
Bjoern Roeper, Ph.D.

Work Experience: Dr. Roeper started his career in 1997 as a management consultant with A.T. Kearney in Dusseldorf, where he was a member of the Corporate Finance & Strategy practice, acquiring in-depth expertise in buy- and sell-side M&A mandates for both corporate investors and financial sponsors. He joined the restructuring-focused management consulting firm Droege & Comp. in 2005, gaining in-depth restructuring expertise. Prior to joining Mummert & Company, Dr. Roeper was President of Droege & Comp. Inc., Droege’s U.S. subsidiary and headed their New York office, focusing on U.S. in-bound transatlantic M&A mandates for German clients and on value enhancement / restructuring assignments for U.S. mid-cap Private Equity funds.
Education: Dr. Roeper received a degree in Business Administration / Economics from the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel, Germany / Silicon Valley, USA. He earned a Ph.D. from the European Business School’s Endowed Chair for Corporate Finance and Capital Markets.
